About Us

Centre for Distance and Online Education (previously known as Department of Open and Distance Learning) was established in 1968 and has been a pioneer institute imparting education through the distance mode. It was the second institute in the country to adopt the non-formal mode of imparting education.

This Centre was the first in India to introduce a regional language as the medium of instruction and examination. Presently, the Centre manages 34 multi-faculty programmes, with student enrolment ranging from twelve to fifteen thousand in previous years.

The Centre is proud of its students who have consistently performed exceptionally well in University examinations, proving that distance mode education is second to none.
